The Spark iOS app provides two ways to move through a scene: touch controls and AR fly mode. Both send 3D coordinates (not video) back to the Spark web app, which is why live camera sharing works across cities without lag.

Touch navigation

Use the on-screen controls to move through your scene:
  • Finger swipe — Look around by dragging on the viewport.
  • Joystick — Move forward, backward, and strafe using the on-screen joystick.
  • Height control — Rise and lower the camera.
  • Speed control — Adjust movement speed to cover large scenes quickly or move precisely in tight spaces.
A joystick-while-compositing mode lets you reposition with the joysticks without leaving AR control, so you don’t have to drop out of compositing mode to make a small adjustment.

AR fly mode

Tap the second button on the left side of the shooting view to enter AR fly mode. In AR fly mode, physically moving the phone drives the virtual camera. Dial the speed up to cover a large scene from your chair. Unlike Jetset, there is no origin-setting or ground-grab step before you start, and the app works in portrait as well as landscape orientation, though landscape is usually more useful for shooting.

Camera settings

Open camera settings to configure the virtual camera:
  • Lens — Select from real lens models. Pick the one you plan to shoot on so what you see in Spark matches what you get on set.
  • T-stop — Set the aperture for depth-of-field reference.
  • Focus — Adjust focus distance.
  • Camera body — Choose a camera body to match your production setup.
  • Zoom — Pinch or scroll to zoom in and out.

Jumping to a setup or camera

Tap Setups in the tool strip to see every setup in the scene, with its cameras listed underneath.
  • Jump to a camera — Tap a camera to jump the device camera to that exact position, then use camera lock (see compositing and recording) to pin the camera there, including on a moving, parented camera.
  • Activate a setup without a camera — Tap a setup’s header to stand in that arrangement without jumping to any one camera’s position.
  • Mark a spot to return to — Tap Add Stationary Camera Here to create a camera at your current position and orientation. This is the fastest way to bookmark a spot in a large scene and jump back to it later, the same way you’d jump to any other camera.
