A fixed studio environment
Every scene is lit by a single baked HDRI — Lightcraft’s own “Spark Studio” environment — used identically by the Spark web app and the Spark iOS app. There is no per-scene light to add and no environment to choose: a scene looks the same on both platforms because they’re matched by construction, not by eye. Of course, we are well aware of the creative need for adjustable lighting, and we’re working towards this. The field of relighting Gaussian splats is changing very rapidly, and as we find technical approaches that fit our needs for speed and ease of use, we will be adding them. What this means in practice
- There’s no Lights category in the outliner, and no way to add a directional, spot, or point light.
- There’s no environment preset picker and no environment intensity control.
- Lighting affects USD assets only, through image-based lighting. It does not relight Gaussian splats — a splat’s own baked lighting carries through unchanged on both platforms.
If a scene needs a different look than the fixed studio environment provides, bake the lighting into the asset itself — a Gaussian splat’s own scan, or a USD material — rather than looking for a lighting control in Spark. There isn’t one.
