Every take recorded in compositing mode is stored on the device until it’s uploaded to the platform. The Spark Desktop app moves takes and their full metadata from the device to the cloud, where the whole team can review them in the browser.
Takes are stored on the device until uploaded. Do not delete the Spark iOS app while it holds unuploaded takes — an app version update is safe, but deleting the app may not be.
Install Spark Desktop
Spark Desktop is a lightweight companion app for Mac and Windows, downloadable from the takes or shot list page in the Spark web app.
Offload takes
- Plug the iPhone or iPad into your computer over USB-C.
- Open Spark Desktop and choose a destination folder.
- Pull takes from the device.
Spark Desktop locates everything on the device, pulls each take with its full metadata, organizes the local folder by production, and uploads takes to the cloud. Each recording reserves a slot on the takes page in the browser (marked with a lightning bolt while it waits); uploading fills that slot.
Reviewing takes in the browser
On the takes page, the whole team can review takes organized by script scene. Web downloads of takes are MP4 only — the full separated file set (raw camera, composite, background plate, depth map, tracking data, and metadata) lives locally with whoever ran the Spark Desktop offload.
Sending takes to post
The take bundle can be pushed directly into a pre-configured Nuke or Blender project. See Autoshot overview for the broader post-production pipeline once footage moves beyond Spark.
