What is Spark Story?

Spark Story is a collaborative pre-production tool for virtual production. It lets teams write scripts, build 3D scenes, plan shots, and export everything to set — all from a web browser.

Where Spark Story fits in the ecosystem

Spark Story is the starting point of the Lightcraft virtual production pipeline:
  1. Spark Story — Write, design scenes, and plan shots in pre-production.
  2. Jetset — Capture camera tracking and composites on set using an iPhone or iPad.
  3. Autoshot — Bring tracked data into Blender, Unreal, After Effects, or Nuke for post-production.
Scenes built in Spark Story export directly to Jetset, carrying over assets, camera positions, and locators.

High-level workflow

A typical Spark Story workflow follows these steps:
  1. Write — Create or import a Fountain or Final Draft formatted screenplay.
  2. Build scenes — Arrange 3D assets, set up lighting, and position cameras for each scene heading.
  3. Plan shots — Record camera moves, organize shot lists, and share previews with your team.
  4. Export to set — Generate USDZ files and QR codes so Jetset can load your scene on an iPhone or iPad.

Who this documentation is for

This documentation is for anyone using Spark Story, including directors, cinematographers, producers, and virtual production supervisors. No prior 3D experience is required — the guides start from account creation and build up to advanced scene editing.
