Four-panel layout

The scene editor is organized into four main panels:
  • 3D canvas — The main viewport where you view and interact with your scene.
  • Timeline — Controls playback, animation clips, and audio tracks.
  • Outliner — Lists all objects in the scene (assets, cameras, lights, locators).
  • Properties — Displays transform, material, and other settings for the selected object.

Browser requirements

Spark Story renders Gaussian splats in the browser via WebAssembly. Google Chrome on a recent Mac or PC is required. Other browsers are not supported.

Canvas toolbar

Four controls sit in the upper left of the 3D canvas:
  • Gear — Opens the Camera panel for move speed, look speed, boost speed, and transform size.
  • Compass — Toggles the scene gizmo on or off.
  • Square — Toggles the ground plane on or off.
  • Bug — Toggles Show Debug Info, which overlays the current frame rate in the upper left of the canvas.

Viewport controls

Navigate the 3D canvas using fly mode. Fly mode lets you move through the scene freely, similar to a first-person camera. Use W, A, S, D to move and Q, E to lower and raise the camera.

Selecting objects

Click an object in the 3D canvas or the outliner to select it. The selected object’s properties appear in the properties panel, where you can edit transforms, visibility, and other settings.

Panel workflow

Panels can be resized to fit your working style. A typical workflow involves selecting objects in the outliner, positioning them in the 3D canvas, and fine-tuning values in the properties panel.
