# Gallery

> Review setups and takes, track coverage, and share annotated footage with your team

## What the Gallery is for

The Gallery is the production's single view of coverage. It lists every scene, grouped by script, with each scene's setups underneath — and each setup's cameras and takes underneath that. Use it to plan a shoot day, run a review meeting, or see at a glance what's left to shoot.

## Browsing scenes and setups

Each setup appears as a card, whether or not it has been shot yet — an unshot setup still shows, so you can see what coverage is missing. A setup's card leads with its previz render as a poster and groups its cameras underneath.

## Cameras and takes

A card is grouped by camera position: the camera's CG previz render and every take recorded from that position appear together on the same card as layers, not as separate cards. A take recorded with no scene camera selected on the phone is listed under **No camera**, inside its setup. This is about the camera position in the 3D scene. It is not about the phone's own camera being on or off.

## Layers and missing coverage

Each take's layer strip shows the artifacts that have arrived for it — composite, raw camera, background, matte, and depth. A layer that hasn't arrived yet draws as a labelled empty slot:

* If the web app can produce it (the CG previz render), the slot carries a **Generate** action.
* If it only comes from the phone (a captured layer), the slot is a passive gap — the prompt to go shoot it.

On a take card, the layers are the chips **Comp**, **BG**, **Camera**, **Matte**, and **Depth**. A solid chip is a layer that has arrived. A dashed chip is a layer that is missing. Point at a dashed chip to read why.

| Tooltip on the dashed chip | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Comp is on the phone and hasn't uploaded yet — upload it from the phone's Takes list** | The phone has the file. Upload the take from the phone. The same text is used for the other layers, with the layer's name first. |
| **BG is on the phone and hasn't uploaded yet — upload it from the phone, or render one here with Regenerate BG** | The phone has a background. You can upload it, or render one on the web. |
| **No comp rendered yet — render this take on the phone** | The take has no composite yet. |
| **No BG yet — render it with Regenerate BG from this card's menu** | The take has no background, and the web can render one. |
| **No BG rendered yet — render this take on the phone** | The take has no background, and the web cannot render one for this take. |
| **This take was recorded without a camera plate** | The take never had this layer, so no upload will bring it. The same text is used for a take recorded without matte or without depth. |
| **Waiting for this take's details from the phone** | The phone has not yet reported which files the take has. |

![A take card in the Gallery. The BG chip is solid. The Comp, Camera, Matte, and Depth chips are dashed. The pointer is on Matte, and a tooltip reads This take was recorded without matte. A Tracking download chip is under the layer chips.](https://mintcdn.com/lightcraft/-ve2hjCL6FPNvJ7B/images/spark/gallery-chip-tooltip.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=-ve2hjCL6FPNvJ7B\&q=85\&s=caef87ae1ca18c762fac43da525b10d2)

In this example **BG** has arrived, the other four layers are missing, and the pointer is on **Matte**.

For a take recorded with the phone's camera off, **BG** is the only layer chip. The other layer chips are not drawn, since there is nothing to shoot for them.

### A card with no picture

A take card with no video yet says what it is waiting for:

* A take recorded with the phone's camera on reads **The camera video and comp come from the phone. Upload this take there to see it here**.
* A take recorded with the phone's camera off reads **No video yet. Render it with Regenerate BG from the menu**. See [regenerating a background](#regenerating-a-background).
* A take recorded with the phone's camera off, whose background the web cannot render yet, reads the reason instead, such as **The phone hasn't uploaded this take's camera track yet**.

![A take card in the Gallery with no picture. It reads The camera video and comp come from the phone. Upload this take there to see it here. All five layer chips are dashed.](https://mintcdn.com/lightcraft/-ve2hjCL6FPNvJ7B/images/spark/gallery-card-no-picture.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=-ve2hjCL6FPNvJ7B\&q=85\&s=32bf20353e696971577cb24695542b74)

### Download chips

Some files of a take cannot be played in the browser. Once uploaded, each one has a chip after the layer chips. Click the chip to download the file. Its tooltip reads **Download** and the file's name.

* **Tracking** is the take's camera tracking data.
* **Depth (raw)** is the depth of a take whose depth was saved in the phone's raw format. Its tooltip ends with **16-bit depth, lossless**. Such a take has no **Depth** chip.

![A take card in the Gallery with the chips Tracking and Depth (raw). The pointer is on Depth (raw), and a tooltip reads Download depthraw.l16, 16-bit depth, lossless.](https://mintcdn.com/lightcraft/-ve2hjCL6FPNvJ7B/images/spark/gallery-depth-raw-chip.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=-ve2hjCL6FPNvJ7B\&q=85\&s=6dab1e3e282adf4469e8cca7af0d900f)

## View modes

Switch between two view modes:

* **Card grid** — Displays setups and takes as visual cards with preview thumbnails.
* **List** — Displays them in a compact list format with key details.

In list view, the appearance button opens **Row size**, with **Compact** and **Standard**. A compact row keeps the name, the details line, and one line of the note. It leaves out the tags and the layer chips.

![The Gallery in list view with the appearance menu open. Row size is set to Compact, and compact rows show behind it.](https://mintcdn.com/lightcraft/wOgMVOSKOvh9lobi/images/spark/gallery-row-size.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wOgMVOSKOvh9lobi\&q=85\&s=630a2da70d4b698cf48b5f0de608495a)

## Take card actions

Open the **…** menu on a card.

![A take card's menu in the Gallery with Regenerate BG, Download, Add to list, and Delete permanently.](https://mintcdn.com/lightcraft/wOgMVOSKOvh9lobi/images/spark/gallery-card-menu.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wOgMVOSKOvh9lobi\&q=85\&s=aa28df1caf3fc29f55e1a1adc1cf8e53)

1. **Regenerate BG** renders a background for a take that has none. The render runs in the browser and uses the scene as it is now.
2. **Download** saves the card as one zip file.

### Regenerating a background

Use **Regenerate BG** on a take that has no background yet. Such a take shows a dashed **BG** chip. The render uses the take's camera track, so the camera move matches the take.

The take's video does not need to be uploaded first. The Spark iOS app sends each take's camera track when recording stops, even with **Auto-upload video** turned off. See [the Takes page](/spark/spark-ios/compositing-and-recording.md#the-takes-page).

1. Open the take card's **…** menu and click **Regenerate BG**.
2. Wait while it renders. The top bar shows "Regenerating BG" with the take's name and the frames left. The menu item reads **Regenerating BG…** and is greyed out.
3. When the message "Background updated" appears, click the **BG** chip on the card to see the new background.

**Regenerate BG** is greyed out when the web cannot render a background for the take. Its tooltip gives the reason:

* **This take already has a background**
* **The phone hasn't uploaded this take's camera track yet**
* **This take isn't linked to a 3D scene**

A background rendered later on the phone and uploaded replaces the one rendered on the web.

### Downloading a zip file

To download several cards at once, click **Select Takes**, tick the cards, and click **Download**. A selection is also saved as one zip file.

The zip file is named with the date and time, then "Gallery Takes". Its folders follow the Gallery: 3D scene, then setup, then camera.

**2026-10-07 18.40.12 Gallery Takes.zip**

**INT. PARK - DAY**

**Base Setup**

**Camera 1**

**Camera 1.mp4**

**Take 1**

**Take 1.mp4**

**Take 1-background.mp4**

**Take 1-cam.mp4**

**Take 1-matte.mp4**

**Take 1-depth.mp4**

* A CG Take is one MP4 inside its camera folder.
* A take has its own folder inside the camera folder, with one file for each layer it has. The composite is named after the take. Other layers add the layer name. Tracking data, when the take has it, is saved in the same folder.
* A take with no camera has its folder at the top of the zip file.

Downloads are useful for sharing outside the Spark web app or as input for AI video tools, where a real camera move produces cleaner output than a text prompt.

## Comments and annotations

Add comments and annotations directly to a setup or take card. Use these to leave feedback, note blocking positions, flag issues, or document creative direction for your team.

## Sharing

Share the Gallery with team members within your organization. Shared views let everyone review coverage and add their own comments.

### Sharing a list with a link

1. In the Gallery, open **Lists** and click the list.
2. Click **Share** and turn **Web** on.

A link appears that anyone can open without signing in. Under it are the sections **Password** and **Expires**, and a **Save** button. The copy icon beside the link copies it.

### Setting an expiry date

1. Under **Expires**, click a chip: **Never**, **1 day**, **7 days**, **30 days**, **3 months**, or **1 year**. You can also pick a date in the date box. Days before today cannot be picked.
2. Read the line under the chips, such as **Expires in 7 days**. Picking today shows **Expires today**.
3. Click **Save**. The message **Share settings saved** appears, and a clock icon shows beside **Share**. Its tooltip repeats the expiry.

After the date has passed, a person who opens the link sees **This link has expired** and **Ask the person who sent it for a new one.** In your **Share** window the **Web** switch reads off, and the clock icon is gone.

### Setting a password

1. Turn **Password** on. A box appears that reads **Choose a password**.
2. Type a password of at least 4 characters. A shorter one shows **Use at least 4 characters**.
3. Click **Save**. The message **Share settings saved** appears, and a lock icon shows beside **Share**, with the tooltip **Password protected**.

When you open **Share** again, the box reads **Password set — type a new one to change**.

A person who opens the link sees **This list is password protected**. The list's name is not shown. **Open list** is greyed out until they type something.

* A wrong password shows **Wrong password. Try again.**
* The right password opens the list. Reloading that browser tab does not ask again. A new private window asks again.

If you save a different password, a person who had unlocked the list is asked again when they reload. The old password is refused.

To remove the password, turn **Password** off and click **Save**. The lock icon goes away, and the link opens with no prompt.

### Replacing the link

Click the refresh icon beside the link. Spark asks **Refresh this link?** and warns **The current link will stop working for everyone who has it.** Click **Refresh link**. The message **New link created. The old one no longer works.** appears.

A person who opens the old link then sees **This link doesn't work**.

### Turning the link off and on

Turn **Web** off to stop the link. A person who opens it sees **This link doesn't work** and **It may have been turned off or replaced. Ask the person who sent it for a new one.**

Turning **Web** on again brings the same address back, so everyone who had the link can open the list again. To stop that, replace the link.

### Downloading from a shared list

A person who opens a shared list link can download from it without signing in.

![A shared list page with two take cards and the buttons Select Takes and Download all.](https://mintcdn.com/lightcraft/wOgMVOSKOvh9lobi/images/spark/shared-list-controls.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wOgMVOSKOvh9lobi\&q=85\&s=72499ed2291b09200bc4aa64d243ccd0)

1. **Select Takes** shows checkboxes, so the viewer can pick cards and download only those.
2. **Download all** saves everything in the list as one zip file.

The zip file uses the same folders as a Gallery download. For a viewer, a take's folder holds only the composite, the background, and the camera layer.

## Reviewing takes from the iPhone or iPad

A take recorded on the Spark iOS app gets a card in the Gallery soon after recording stops, organized by scene and setup, for the whole team to review. Its video arrives when the phone uploads it. See [compositing and recording](/spark/spark-ios/compositing-and-recording.md) for the recording workflow and [Spark Desktop and takes](/spark/gallery/spark-desktop.md) for how takes get from the device into the browser.
