# New keys for Split, Trim start, and Trim end

> Split is now Ctrl+K, Trim start is Q, and Trim end is W

Change · Web · Released [2026-10-12](/spark/changelog/changelog#2026-10-12)

Three Editor keys moved to make room for **Mark in** (**I**), **Mark out** (**O**), and **Overwrite** (**B**).

| Action | Before | Now |
| - | - | - |
| Split the selected clip | **B** | **Ctrl+K** (**⌘K** on a Mac) |
| Trim the start of the selected clip to the playhead | **I** | **Q** |
| Trim the end of the selected clip to the playhead | **O** | **W** |

The tooltips on **Split**, **Trim start**, and **Trim end** show the new keys while a clip is selected. **I** and **O** now set marks on the take in the **Clip** pane, and **B** overwrites at the playhead. See [mark in and out on a take in the Editor](/spark/changelog/updates/2026-10-12/editor-mark-in-and-out).

**Up** and **Down** step to the previous and next item in the left column without clicking in the left column first. Before, they worked only after you clicked there.
